The day before Pierscen's last day (where they were able to wear their swimming suits and play in some kiddie pools in the backyard) rolled around and that evening he started complaining about his throat hurting. At dinner, he wouldn't eat. He put his head on the table and started crying. I asked him if he wanted to go to bed and he said yes. Again, you know your child doesn't feel well when they act like that! So we let him go to bed. The next morning, when he was still in pain, I called the doc and got him in. The nurse was quite skeptical that it would be strep because his throat wasn't very red. Well... apparently that doesn't matter because he did indeed have strep.
He was absolutely heartbroken. So was I, honestly. This school meant so much to him and he was a mess when he learned that he couldn't go.
The next day he felt much better and was thrilled to learn that he could go play and say goodbye. He was bummed that he missed all his classmates, but something was better than nothing!
I put together some thank you gifts for the teachers - bread mix and Honeyville honey. :)
You can see by his expression just how happy he was to get one last day at his school.
When I came to pick him up I was able to snag a picture of his hand print, way at the very top on the right. Pretty cool to be part of this amazing place.
Each class made t-shirts that they were able to sign for each other. Pretty cute idea. Here he is with his amazing teachers, Ms. Natalie, Mrs. Lindsay, and Mrs. Good. I can't even begin to describe how incredible these ladies are. Thank you for making such an incredible impact.
These pictures break my heart. This was just as we climbed in the car. THIS is how much that school meant to him. Words just don't suffice.
To make things better, we went out to eat to turn the day into a celebration. We went to Sweet Tomatoes, Pierscen's request. We love that place!
We got home and surprised Pierscen by having the dinning room decorated for him. We are proud of this little guy and his achievements.
Ryan got him some Highlights books that have lots of puzzles and mazes. He really loves that kind of thing.
The hat is Ryan's from his graduation. But we loved that P got to wear it too. The decorations were actually from a surprise party that Ryan's work threw for him too. The rest of that stuff is all amazing projects P did throughout the year.
Many tears were shed over the last day of school, but we know he will do so well in Kindergarten and in the years ahead. So grateful our friends insisted we get him into PHCP! Congratulations Pierscen!
