Parks, Birthdays, Nuts and Eggs

Some random highlights:

We tried out a new park and the kids loved it.

I bought Devry her very own pink hairbrush, which she carried around all day and even took it in the bath with her, as well as her first pair of jelly shoes. Jelly shoes! They are back! This is a horrible picture of them, but they are awesome. Pierscen called them her glass slippers.

Our ward put on a fun spring Derby where everyone that wanted to was able to make their own Pinewood Derby car. The theme was Kentucky Derby so we had some people dress up super fun and the kids did pool noodle horse races and were able to make bows for their hair or fun neck ties.

There were some really creative cars! They had different categories for the traditional and nontraditional type cars.

Pierscen made his into a farm truck call the 3 P's for the penguin, pig, and platapus found in the back. Very clever.

Ryan's birthday arrived and he's not much of one for celebrating. Luckily for him (or not) we decided to have a Easter Egg hunt/BBQ with friends at the park. It was a good excuse to make the strawberry cake he loves.

Presents were kind of lame this year. I didn't know what to give him and he kept saying he didn't want anything - so we made a card that said we were "nuts" about him and got him a bunch of nuts. Happy birthday handsome!

The BBQ at the park was perfect. Good friends. Good food. Good weather. Good fun.

Everyone had a fantastic time. I'm so glad it worked out. I had posted on FB asking if anyone knew of any good Easter Egg hunts locally that weren't on Sunday and that if that wasn't an option if anyone would want to do something. It was such a great evening. Absolutely perfect. And we got to celebrate Ryan's birthday without it being strictly a birthday party. Go me!

When we got home, I spotted Dodger rummaging through the kids Easter baskets. He grabbed something, bolted to the backyard and began dancing around in victory. I went out to investigate and found he had picked out a hard boiled egg. He would not let it go and ended up devouring the whole thing - including a good chunk of the shell. Crazy pup.

Happy 32nd to my amazing hubby. He is my best friend, an incredible husband, father and provider. I cannot imagine my life without him.
