Jemez Mountains part two. We had such a great time last time, we decided to try it again. The goal was to do some fishing AND hiking this time as we learned there is an easy hike to some waterfalls nearby. The waterfall didn't end up happening, spoiler alert! But we still had fun.
This time we started at the hatchery. It was not has exciting or as successful as last time, but it is very picturesque and the kids still loved it.
This was the one big fish we caught and kept. Devry was far more interested in the worms than actually fishing.
But she didn't mind posing with Pierscen's spoils.
The best part was when we decided to head back to the car. The fish was dead, but still on the line. So Devry decided to "walk" it back to the car. The line just kept getting longer and longer as she dragged it along. We were laughing so hard.
We did find the waterfall hike, but by this point (after the kids did some more archery) there was nowhere to park. (It was near noon). P drove around the campground a bit, then headed back to his car seat and we set off to find another random hike.
We stopped at Battleship Rock, which apparently also goes up to the waterfall. We didn't make it that far, but we did take a fun little stroll along the path and enjoyed the beauty of the area. Sometimes it's hard to believe that we are just a little outside of Albuquerque and everything is so green! It is really beautiful.
Playing hide and seek... sort of.
Pierscen with Battleship Rock in the background. P had a pinprick hole in his water bottle and wouldn't smile without squirting water into his mouth while I was taking a picture.
Cooling off with the pump. I'm still a little shocked she let him do this, but he did it before her and she always wants to do what he does.
That evening Dodger showed mom just how much he missed her. He passed out like that, and then eventually turned and curled up on me, literally hugging me. It was so cute! I think he knows his one on one time is running out.
