July 28th was our 7th anniversary. Woot! Woot! The 28th was on a Sunday, so we decided to celebrate Saturday.
As soon as we were awake, we drove out to Alcova to go fishing. I thought that since we got a bit of a later start that Ryan would have stuck with the river or something closer, but I'm glad we made the drive. When we first got there, things didn't look so good. There were campers and people everywhere!
But Ryan hit a trail and hiked off a ways until he came upon this beautiful and secluded cove. Pierscen and I set up "shop" here while Ryan hiked to the top of the next ridge to fish. He would have fished where we were, but it wasn't a good spot. And unfortuately, the place that Ryan picked was a little scary for the little man. So P and I mostly played down on the shore and then went back and forth to check on dad.
As you might guess, here are lots of pictures. :)
This little cove was so nice! And so beautiful. Occasionally a boat or wave runner would jet by, but mostly it was just really peaceful. Except for Dodger who managed to get himself coated in stickers again. But hey, at least we had just had his hair cut so removing them was pretty easy.
At one point Pierscen ran over and grabbed one of the fishing poles. He knew just what to do with it! Unfortunately, this resulted in a snag... or so we thought! Turns out he caught himself a fish!
He was super excited to what was on the other end of the line and was more than happy to help reel it in and scoop it out of the water.
It's hard to say who was more excited about catching the fish - Ryan, Pierscen, or Dodger! (Or me!) I was really happy that Ryan caught something. We would have had a good time out there regardless, but getting skunked is no fun, so I was really glad he caught something.
After catching the fish, we went back to our little cove to hang out some more.
Ryan caught a few more fish and the last one he brought over to us so P could watch him swim away.
Pierscen loved it! Dodger... not so much. He isn't a water dog to say the least.
We had a fantastic time. We left somewhere around noon. No sooner had we loaded P in the car then he passed out. Poor tired little guy.
When we got home, we tried to put him in bed for a longer nap, but he was awake at that point, so we went to Olive Garden for "linner." I love that place. Yum. Yum. And P was really well behaved.
That afternoon, Ryan set up the new bike trailer and gave Pierscen his first ride. Dodger was riding along for a while, but decided to jump ship and just run along with them. P had a great time and loved waving and yelling "hi" as they passed the house.
It was a really great day. Nothing super crazy or special about it, but just being together was really great. Ryan is my best friend and there is no one I would rather spend my life with. I am so grateful for our relationship. I know I can tell him anything and that he will be there for me through thick and thin. So grateful for our temple marriage and the chance that we have to be together for time and all eternity. And if we had to share the day with someone, who better than our little man? He brightens each and every day. So lucky to have him!
Whoa! Seven years!! You guys are on a roll! Where does the time go? Happy belated 7th anniversary. You are a beautiful, awesome family.
