The TRUE Unveiling

And now, the moment you've REALLY been waiting for. The TRUE unveiling!
Pierscen sitting under the table at signing

Tuesday morning we met the assistant lady, I don't actually know her title or role, and went through the house to make sure everything was in the same condition as it had been when we first saw it. (Nothing missing or destroyed. You never know.) Everything looked great - though the microwave was gone. We agreed all appliances stayed. Pretty sure the microwave is an appliance. Didn't matter though cause we had to buy one for the apartment, so it was fine. Certainly not worth fighting over.

Signing went great. I actually felt really bad for the other girl. I could tell she was pretty emotional about it. They are excited about getting to build their own house, but the biggest parts of their lives have been here. They bought the house before they got married and had both their kids there. So yeah, there are a lot of memories for them. She was especially choked up about having to leave the nursery and asked a few times if that's what I intended to use that room for. After signing they were going to go sign a contract so they could officially break ground on their new house. I imagine as soon as that gets going, the excitement will help heal some of the sadness of leaving this place. But as for me - I was just plain excited!

Unfortunately, right after we finished signing 10,000 documents, Ryan had to go back to work, so Pierscen and I went back to the apartment until Ryan was finished for the day. We picked him up from work, loaded up the car, and headed to the house.

Dodger saying hello to the neighbor dogs.

Now the tour can begin! Ryan's first objective the moment we got there was to change out the locks. While he did so, I went around and took pictures. Here we go!

Front room as soon as you enter. This will be my sitting/piano room some day. Nice area for visiting/home teachers and piano students. :)

Up the half flight of stairs in the living room. Hurray for a wood burning stove! We are super excited about that. :)

The door you can see open in the picture above is just off the kitchen and leads out to the deck on the front of the house.

The previous owners had their BBQ, patio furniture, and wood stack out here. I agree with the first two, but not so much the wood. There has got to be a better place for it. Yes, it's a little unconventional to have the deck on the front of the house, but it's a really nice spot. I think we will really enjoy it next year. We will just have to get a grill. Darn. ;)

Here is the kitchen. It is to the left of the living room with the fireplace. Very nice and open. Lots of cupboards and counter space. Wonder, wonderful, wonderful.

Just down the hall from the kitchen is the laundry and a half bath.

Kiddy corner from the bathroom/laundry is the master. Only quirky thing about the master is that the vanity is on the outside of the bathroom. But that's no big deal.

Nice walk-in closet. I am super excited about this. Know why? I just want to say I am the nicest wife on earth. In our apartment back in Orem, I let Ryan have the front half of the closet, meaning I had to reach all the way back behind the wall to reach any of my stuff. Same thing with our apartment in Casper. What woman does that? Anyway, now we finally have a closet that we can both reach. Fantastic. :)

The master bath with the wonderfully retro linoleum.

Just across the hall from the master is the famous nursery. It really is nice. The only room with nice plush carpet and dimmer lights. AND, the coloring matches Pierscen's stuff perfectly.

Just before you head out to the backyard, there is the door to the basement. I took a picture of the light switch to show the theme. It makes me sing Sponge Bob Square Pants every time. "If nautical nonsense is something you wish... then jump on the deck and flop like a fish!" The wall paper you can see there is a big boat and a giant whale. Moby Dick all the way.

Basement living room. I thought two of the lights were dead. Nope. I just didn't flip enough switches. This room will be fantastic for movies. Just need a big comfy couch and a popcorn machine.

The door without the mirror pictured above leads to the garage. The door with the mirror leads to this AMAZING storage area. Unfinished with a billion possibilities. There is plumbing hookups there, so we could do another bath with two bedrooms, or one bed, bath, and storage. OR... if we really wanted to, we could even turn it into a separate apartment with a kitchen and everything. Me personally, I would rather just keep the storage.

Back upstairs to the main living room and up the flight of stairs...

Spare bedroom #1. aka The Green Room. I now have a better appreciation for real estate agents who seemingly can't get good pictures of the rooms. This room is huge. Almost as big as the master. But you can't really get that in a picture. It has a huge closet too. That solid wood door in the closet leads to more unfinished storage.

There is a full bath at the top of the stairs between the two bedrooms. Like the nursery, it's been nicely updated.

Spare bedroom #2: aka The Blue Room. About the same size, huge closet, and a large unfinished storage area as well.

Now for the most part, I really like the paint choices they already have. However, the green and blue in these bedrooms is a tad bit on the intense side. Painting is fun though. A great way to give a room a whole new look.

The view from the very top of the stairs. Pretty high up! The house just keeps going and going... Not traditional, but we love it.

And Mr. P - 8 months and 1 day, decided to show his excitement for the house by showing off his new skill set.

Oh those stairs... time to get a gate or two! We are so excited about the house. It felt like home from the first time we went through it. We can't wait to dig in and make it our own.
