Dino Museum Fieldtrip

To finish off their unit on dinosaurs, Pierscen's preschool got to attend the Museum of Natural History for a field trip. They gave each of the kids a clip board with six things they needed to find, or questions they needed to answer. P couldn't wait to get started.

Since we had visited once before, he new where to find the answers to several of these items and wasted no time getting there. The hardest part was trying to write the insanely long names of the dinos in the slots provided.

All the kids reconvened for snacks, which Devry thoroughly enjoyed, before heading back out to explore for a little while longer.

There was one area that used to have a fossil digging pit, but now it has these fun video games if you will. The one on the left he was a triceratops wandering around and the other one was like he was in Jurassic Park.

There is a whole part of the museum dedicated to space, but his teacher told us to try and not go visit it if we could resist because we would be back for another field trip following their final unit on space. But after lunch everyone started heading home, but Pierscen said he HAD to go see it again. We didn't stay super long. Just long enough to look at some stars and study things under the microscope. ;)

I'm so impressed with the array of things they learned this term. I saved the weekly letters (minus the first week or two - darn it!) so I could include the schedule of things they studied. I know in the first little bit they learned about volcanoes. Haha. Here's the rest:
The study of land, air, and water dinosaurs and their differences
The study of fossils
The study of footprints
The study of Paleontologists
The study of herbivores and carnivores
The study of prehistoric insects
The study of plants
The study of dinosaur attributes
The study of dinosaur sizes
The study of dinosaur skin
The study of Prey vs Predator
The study of dinosaur families and dino eggs
The study of evolution of dinos
The study of exticintion
The study of pumpkins (Halloween time)

This preschool is seriously the most amazing thing ever. I am so thankful he got in!
