July 2015 Part 1

Here are some of July's highlights:

Progress of Dodger's wound healing. Looks pretty darn good to me! So grateful it didn't get infected.

Progress of the vanity replacement: New top, new sinks, new hardware. All vast improvements from what was there before.

Then it was off to Utah for the fourth. The fourth was on a Saturday and Ryan wasn't able to get off until 4 or 5 Friday afternoon. We stopped by Burger King on the way out of town. Pierscen took one or two bites of his burger, then passed out.

I had made the crazy decision to go the Freedom Run with Necia and her family last minute. The Freedom Run was actually the last 5k I had done... and that was when I was about 20 weeks pregnant with Pierscen. So it was about time. It was just made especially brutal because we didn't get to Orem until about 1 am and I made it to bed around 2. I was up getting ready for the race around 5:30 am. It was not fun. Haha.

Thank goodness for adrenaline and good company.

Considering I hadn't run a real 5k, or even run 3.1 miles on my own since 3 years previous, I was pretty happy that I was able to "run" the whole thing without stopping. It wasn't my fastest time, but I survived!

After the race we joined the rest of the gang to watch the parade. Or at least part of it. The main reason we made the trip home was because Fred and Jari were in town and this would be our last chance to see them before they moved to South Korea with the Air Force. Below is Devry and Fred's little guy, Zachary meeting for the first time. Dev was crazy tired, and she totally looks like a little boy. Haha. I was going for patriotic clothes, but yeah, she just looks like a boy. Oh well.

The parade was short lived because we all needed to head home and get cleaned up for family pictures.

Family pictures were rough because the only time we could find someone to take our photo was in the middle of the day (noon) up the canyon. The lighting was horrible and it was insanely hot. Be that as it may, the big family photo turned out good. I was bummed because of all the shots she took, there wasn't a single one (that we saw anyway) where Devry was looking up - either in the huge family photo or the one of just us four. I also had her take some of just Ryan and I, as well as some individual shots of Pierscen. We never saw them. Glad I didn't bother getting any of Devry, because she was too tired to smile anyway.

The ones below were just taken on my phone, obviously, and the lighting is awful. But hey, they are still cute.

Of course this cute little stink started smiling like crazy as soon as we got in the car and back to Oma's. Haha.

We enjoyed a bbq that evening and then went over to James's to watch the fireworks. It was a really pleasant night.

Sunday selfies:

This dress is the one Pierscen was holding when we announced we were pregnant. Kind of fun. :)

Pierscen got to take a super fun bubble bath in the big jetted tub at Oma's.

More fun pictures of this princess in an adorable outfit from Necia:

More Dev and Zach pictures. They are two months apart (Dev is older).

Holding hands...

Cousins!

How Fred and I really feel about being separated by land and sea for two years:

But the obligatory smile because we have to photo:

It's hard to be away from family, but I think they will have a grand adventure and I'm super excited for them. (Kind of jealous too. Wyoming is great, but it's not... foreign, you know? Nothing exotic about the windy planes of Wyoming.)

It was a quick, but great trip to Utah. We will miss you Fred and Jari!

Back at home... Here is a random picture of Devry playing the piano. Nothing terribly special about it except that Pierscen LOVED this thing, so it was fun to see Devry start really using it and enjoying it.

We signed Pierscen up for T-ball and it was pretty amusing. The following were taken at his first practice.

He spent a fair amount of time picking the grass or dandelions if he could find them.  But hey, the games were more fun to watch.

I split this post into two hoping it would make it less overwhelming. But considering how far behind I am, it's not like anyone but me is going to be reading this. Oh well. So... to be continued.
