March Recap

March was a very busy, but very fun month. Lots of activities and lots of photo ops. Here we go!

King Pierscen! Yes, this is good old Burger King. You can judge if you want to, but sometimes, two whopper meals for $7.99 is the best thing in the world. Scrumptious.

Bath time is always an adventure.

We had the oil changed in our car at the Greiner Dealership. That place actually makes me quite frustrated because it has never taken less than 2 hours to have it changed. (Every time I had it done in Utah it was less than 20 minutes). The only good thing about the dealership is that there is plenty for Pierscen to do. He was pretty cute inspecting the tires.

Dodger finally got his first haircut of the year. This normally is not a picture worthy event, but I was telling Pierscen's buddy about it, and he wanted to see a picture. Haha.

March was also our first fishing trip - the first of many I am sure. There is a nice little pond out here called Jessica's Pond that is near a fish hatchery. The water is actually really warm. Unfortunately the first time out there the weather was... not so much. It was really cold!

P lasted long enough to help daddy catch a fish or two and then we spent most of the time in the car.

We only kept one fish that trip. We took it home, wrapped it in foil and cooked it with butter and lemon pepper. Pierscen was iffy the first bite or so, but then he devoured it, hardly even allowing us a bite. (That's alright. It was a pretty small fish.)

The 4-H Carnival was held down at the fairgrounds. At first I didn't think there would be much for Pierscen to do, but it was a blast. I bought $5 worth of tickets. The first thing we did was the pony ride. It was perfect!

Check out that adorable little guy on a tiny little horse!

I had them pause for a second so I could try and get a good picture. Pierscen just kept trying to make the horse move forward. It was pretty funny.

We used a few tickets for the petting zoo. I think I love petting zoos as much as the little man does. Little animals are the best. Hehe.

We used the rest of the tickets on the big slide and a cake walk. It took a lot of pull P off that slide. He would have spent every penny I had just on that alone. As for the cake walk, we were the only one playing at the time, and we definitely didn't "win" but they had so many cakes that they just pretended we landed on the right number. No complaints here. It was a lot of fun.

March is the best time to go check out the baby chicks. (If only the city would let us get some! I will never stop complaining about that until the city changes their minds.)

The following pictures are all compliments of Pierscen. He took some pretty good pictures!

Even this picture was taken by the little man. Pretty awesome, right?

I sure love these boys!

And P sure loved the chicks!

The wonderful thing about March is that it finally warms up enough to go to the park! (That is, it warms up in between snow storms. Haha)

Now whenever I tell Pierscen we are going to the park he says, "We go slide? And swing? And slide? And other slide? And other slide?" It's funny because you know he is visualizing all the different slides and is referencing a different one each time.

I snapped the following picture during a piano lesson. Dodger likes to sleep on my lap during lessons, and this is how he decided to sleep. Goofy animal.

Oh tiny little bum child. He owns very few pairs of pants or shorts that won't fall off his bum. He is constantly trying to pull them up.

We visited the indoor play park at the rec center for the first time. If you have a pass to the rec, it doesn't cost anything. If I have my act together, I like to take him before swimming and let him play for a while. It's a nice place to go, especially if the weather is bad.

I took this picture after Ryan told me that while he was taking Pierscen out of his room. Pierscen made Ryan stop while he rotated the medicine all forward and put the syringe on top. Once he did so, he said, "There. I fix it." A little OCD? Ha!

I have been trying to get a good picture of Pierscen's eye for a long time. He has this cool brown streak. It's not super dark, but I think it's pretty neat.

The tragedy of the month - was this: A busted laptop. It was Pierscen's doing, though I don't know how it happened exactly. Man that stunk! I looked into having it fixed, but would have been a minimum of $300. And somewhere closer to $500. Why bother repairing it, if it's going to cost that much? I can buy one for much less. The real bummer was the timing. I was planning on taking it to my writing conference the following month.

Ryan kept asking me for corn dogs, and I really hate buying them because they are stupidly expensive. Then I realized - duh - I could make them. It was actually pretty delicious. Sure, they are horrible for you, but hey - once it a while, it's worth it.

Warmer weather meant busting out the sandbox, which P was super happy about. Boys and dirt. You don't need much more.

The most exciting part of the month came at the very end - when Oma and Opa came to visit! Originally, they weren't coming out until April, but they ended up going to Colorado Springs to spend time with Ryan's sister for Spring Break and then decided to come up our direction to spend the weekend with us. In Pierscen's excitement, he started practicing this fancy trick:

We had a fantastic time during their visit. It was still short, but we managed to do some fun things. Our ward had their Pinewood Derby competition that weekend. There weren't very many kids participating, so they said that anyone could make a car if they wanted. So Ryan and Pierscen both made their own. P did a great job with his. He did it all on his own too!

When it came down to it, the weights that Ryan bought were stupidly expensive. So, he raided the cup holder of our car and came up with some creative weights.

Ryan's only goal was to beat Pierscen - so fatherly of him. He did win the first time, though he lost the second time. Haha. Pierscen could have cared less. He just thought sending the car down the track was fun in and of itself.

After the derby, we drove up on the mountain to show Oma and Opa how much snow was still up there. (We are talking deeper than the car). At one point, we pulled into an area where Ryan had gone on the Klondike and where we had taken Pierscen - just once - for lunch last summer when he was 18 months old. We made the turn off and even though all we could see was snow, Pierscen pipped up, "Swings?"

Our jaws dropped. There is a swing set up there that Pierscen played on last summer. Like I said - just once. How did he remember that?! He seriously has the best memory I have ever seen.

When Monday morning rolled around, Pierscen was more than happy to take pictures with Oma and Opa.

However, right after these pictures, it was time for them to leave. Even though we tried to explain this to him, P was totally crushed. He wouldn't say goodbye. Wouldn't give kisses. It was heartbreaking. We really need a way to help him so he doesn't feel so betrayed.

I think our saving grace was that Oma and Opa were coming back three weeks later. So I helped Pierscen make a paper chain count down. It really helped him a lot!

It was a really good month. I sure love my boys.
